Exclusive: Trees‘ Tupper Woos Samantha Who?
I know I said no scoop until July 2, but this little nugget’s been burning a hole in my pocket, so without further adieu…
Men in Trees‘ brooding eye candyman James Tupper is joining the cast of Samantha Who? as a love interest for Christina Applegate!
I’m told Tupper is on board for a minimum of three episodes (the first of which he started shooting this week), and he’s playing a charming philanthropist named Owen. A do-gooder who feels like a man of the people even when dressed in an expensive suit, Owen is the kind of guy who men want to be and women want to be with.
I’m pretty sure a fair number of men — say, oh, I dunno, roughly 10 percent of the population? — wouldn’t mind being with him, too.
OK, as much fun as this has been, my prattle sabbatical henceforth resumeth. No sad faces, Ausholes. We’ve just got two more weeks of this to get through. And who knows? Perhaps, maybe just possibly, I’ll be breaking in with more too-hot-to-hold scoop as July 2 approaches. Stranger things have been known to happen.
In the meantime, weigh in on Tupper’s casting below. Does his return to ABC ease some of the pain of Trees‘ cancellation? Or is it tough to imagine “Jack” with anyone other than Marin? Discuss below!

Oooh, interesting casting! I will have to wait and see but I think it could be fun!

He was good on MEN IN TREES, and it shouldn’t be hard to see him with someone other than Anne Heche. Still, though, what does this mean for the Christina Applegate-Barry Watson relationship on SAMANTHA WHO?

It’s nice to know we can resume our daily Ausiello fix here!
Although I’ve enjoyed Men in Trees, I look forward to many of those cast members finding life on other shows. As for Tupper on Samantha Who, I have a feeling that her parents will like him more than she will.

I’m still sad that MIT was canceled, they truly let go of a gem amid the muck.
Thanks for the news Michael, gives me something to look forward to. He’s an interesting casting choice, but can’t wait to watch.

I’ll have to tune in to check him out. Not that ABC can redeem itself after what it did to Men In Trees, but it can grovel a little.

hehe! you are really the king of spoilers. Thanks for not resisting to give us scoops even on your holiday/hiatus.
yay! jack on samantha who…though i am disappointed in MIT’s cancellation, i didn’t really expect anything else for a show that has gotten a crappy treatment from the get-go. i think we were lucky to have gotten as many episodes as we did. anyhoo.
good luck at EW! will you be giving “scoop” a new name now?

So, are you bored yet?

Let me get this straight . . . . Men in Trees - canceled. Super Nanny not canceled. Someone at ABC needs to be put on progressive counseling for exhibiting poor decision making and a total lack of judgment.
